Mitchell has rich and diverse years of design experience within the contract industry, from heading up his own design firm, to leading design efforts with large and small manufacturers. As principal of IDa Design he puts his talents and experiences to work every day in his studio in Holland, Michigan.
He began his career designing products and graphics for Nucraft Furniture Company. He also has strong surface material and textile background from his years with Milliken & Company, the nation's largest textile company. He was Vice President of Design for KI prior to starting his own company.
Mitchell studied product design, fine arts, and business at Kendall College of Art and Design and received a BFA in furniture design. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including alumni of the year from Kendall College, along with multiple Best of NeoCon awards.
